HOUSE BETLÉM

House Betlém offers permanent residence and complex social care to its 9 physically disabled residents in form of personal assistance. It is realized in a family community of disabled and their assistants. Our severely disabled people are not able of self-service, and need continual personal assistance of their assistants, but do not need special health care. An aim of house Betlém is to create to our disabled the best condition for facing up to their handicap and for full-value life with the most reachable level of independency and personal satisfaction. House Betlém also offers reconditioning 1-3 weeks guest stays to other severaly disabled persons both from institutions and from family care. The care offered to disabled is day-long and all-round. Assistants conducts all basic care including acts of personal hygiene. Needed special care is provided by special assistants - nurses and by rehabilitation worker. Special worker for ergotherapy and arttherapy leads residents and guest in various activities in fulfiling their common days.

Ecumenical christian fellowship: nowadays members of 6 churches are living and working in house Betlém. During common life they recognize that what devide them in faith is not so important as what bind them. However there is a condition for one to be willing to serve to others and forget on himself. And also to take seriously His teaching written in the Bible. Only on this basis we can mutually receive each other and cooperate, being crowded in a small place. Young people from all Czech republic comes to work in house Betlém. During 8 years of its existance more 60 of them has taken turns here. Within holidays various volunteers comes to help care about disabled and also other way experience fellowship. Also abroad helpers come - we have friends and sponsors from Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Austria and the U.S.A. In 1999 summer we arranged a volunteers workcamp in cooperation with INEX.

  • We organized in cooperation with Inex a stay of volunteers from all world in August 99. They helped us and we mutually enriched. More you can learn on pages created by volunteers themselves.

    Also in August 2000 we organized workcamp and came 9 young people from Europe and Asia.
    In 2001 we have decided not to organize workcamp from more organizational and financial resons. But next year see you...
